Bowling League w/ Travis McFlynn

Level: Intermediate/Advanced Wheel

Bowling league focuses on advanced wheelthrowing techniques based on specific tools. Each class will begin with a demonstration centered around the mechanics of the wheel working in harmony with the tool and our bodies. The class also serves as a time to work on one’s own projects with mentorship if needed. No special bowling shoes required!

Wednesday Mornings

Level: Beginner Wheel

Are you new to world of wheel throwing? Do you love to start your day with creativity? Join us in this morning introductory course just for beginners. Instruction will focus on centering, opening, and pulling clay pieces on the potter's wheel as well as adding handles and glazing techniques. As your skills build, we will encourage you to explore your creativity and curiosity for ceramics.

Make It, Pair It w/ Matt Eames

Level: All Levels (no experience necessary)

This wheel-throwing class is designed for adults who want to create functional ceramics meant to be used, shared, and enjoyed at the table. Students will learn and refine wheel-throwing techniques while making thoughtfully designed pieces such as mugs, bowls, pitchers, teapots, and serving vessels. Emphasis is placed on form, balance, and how ceramics interact with beverages —how a mug feels in your hands, and how glaze choices enhance everyday rituals.

The Morning Pour-Over w/ Gabby Gawreluk

Love pour-over coffee? So do we! Designed for experienced ceramicists, this class focuses on creating a refined, functional ceramic pour-over coffee set via wheel throwing or handbuilding techniques - your preference! Students will design and make a matching dripper and cup set with emphasis on precision, consistency, and thoughtful problem-solving for daily use.

Level: Beginner/Intermediate Handbuild

Discover the art of creating beautiful, functional ceramics with your own hands—no pottery wheel required! In this beginner-friendly handbuilding class, you’ll learn traditional clay techniques such as slab building, coiling, and pinching to craft one-of-a-kind pieces you can actually use. Think mugs, bowls, trays, planters, and more—all in the name of home improvement!

Independent Study - Spring Session

March 16 - May 29th

Level: Intermediate/Advanced

Independent Study is for intermediate/advanced artists who want self-paced studio time with little to no guidance. Students get 24 hour access to reserve studio time as space allows. To qualify, you must have taken at least one intermediate/advanced class at CCC or two beginner classes.

If you have equivalent experience elsewhere, email programs@carbondaleclay.org before registering.

Independent Study requires session-by-session registration, and shelves must be cleared at the end of the session unless you plan on registering for the following session.
