Make Monoprints from Clay! Clay Printing transforms a slab of leather-hard clay into a printing plate. Layers of colored slips, patterns, and carved textures are applied to the surface, then hand-rolled onto special canvas to create vibrant, one-of-a-kind prints.
Perfect for beginners and curious artists alike, this introductory workshop requires no previous ceramics or printmaking experience. Students will leave with a series of 5” x 7” original monoprints.
A bit about Pam Porter…
Pam studied under the late originator of the clay printing process, Mitch Lyons. Pam is one of the few artists in the United States actively teaching his process.
Pam grew up in Carbondale and fell in love with printmaking at an early age. “Since returning to Carbondale in 2013, I’ve taught art to all ages. Now my focus is on adult workshops that spark creativity through different forms of printmaking”.
Pam ‘s philosophy—process over perfection, joy over judgment - is infused into her workshops. She strives to create an atmosphere that invites curiosity, play, and self-expression so artists can relax, experiment, and thrive.
