Make Monoprints from Clay! Clay Printing transforms a slab of leather-hard clay into a printing plate. Layers of colored slips, patterns, and carved textures are applied to the surface, then hand-rolled onto special canvas to create vibrant, one-of-a-kind prints.
Perfect for beginners and curious artists alike, this introductory workshop requires no previous ceramics or printmaking experience. Students will leave with a series of 5” x 7” original monoprints.
A bit about Pam …
Pam Porter studied for many years with the late Mitch Lyons, the inventor of the clay printing process, and is one of the few artists in the United States actively teaching this unique form of printmaking.
Raised in Carbondale, Pam discovered her love of printmaking at an early age. After returning to the Roaring Fork Valley in 2013, she taught art to students of all ages. Today she focuses primarily on adult workshops that explore creativity through a range of printmaking techniques. She has a studio at The Third Street Center, which happens to be her old elementary school.
Pam’s teaching philosophy—process over perfection, joy over judgment—guides every class she offers. Her workshops are designed to encourage curiosity, play, and personal expression, creating a supportive space where artists can relax, experiment, and reconnect with their creative instincts.
