Q&A WITH THE ARTIST

Carbondale Clay Center (CCC): What’s your favorite beverage recipe?

Giana Grossman (GG): Giana’s Home Brew “Flower Tea”

I source a balanced blend of 20 to 30 ingredients consisting of dried teas, herbs, leaves, roots, flowers and fruit. I cold brew my "flower tea" in a 1/2 gallon Mason jar with ingredients nestled in a fine stainless sieve submerged in filtered h20 overnight. The result is an amber hued beverage that is slightly mucilaginous and has a whisper of sweetness. Serve chilled, in cool ceramics, it is supremely thirst quenching. Taste is divine.

CCC: Do you have a certain type of vessel that you prefer to drink from? Does if vary based on the beverage?

GG: I typically drink from a handleless tumbler that is easy to travel with.

CCC: is there a certain type of drinking vessel that you prefer making? Or one that seems to always be sought after by customers?

GG: I enjoy making small cortado or espresso sized cups which are quite popular.
