BIOGRAPHY

Lori's love for pottery began at a young age and she received a BFA in Ceramics from The Rhode Island School of Design, and a MA in Ceramics from the University of Michigan and an MFA in Video Arts from the Art Institute of Chicago. Lori pursued a long career in video production and advertising, in Chicago, New York and Paris but never lost her passion for ceramics. A resident of Aspen and Carbondale, Lori shows and sells her work in the Valley and has exhibited all over the United States. She is Board advisor to the Carbondale Clay Center and a devoted supporter. 

ARTIST STATEMENT

My ceramic work is created with simple line drawings etched into the surface of smooth white porcelain using a technique called Mishima or inlaid slip. As the characters emerge, so do the stories and the backgrounds. Different shapes and forms are an evolving canvas for illustrations that are always changing.
