ADULT POTTERY & CERAMIC CLASSES

I have no clay experience.  I have taken a few classes, but it was years ago. I have little understanding of the difference between coil build, slab building, building with molds, or throwing on the wheel.

I have taken several clay classes. I feel comfortable enough in clay to be able to make basic forms.  I have some knowledge of clay related terminology but am looking to have a better understanding. I am comfortable working independently.

I have taken several clay classes within the past several years. I feel confident working with clay but am looking to expand my knowledge and skill set.  I am confident working independently.

SUMMER 2025 ADULT CLASS SESSION

Monday, June 9th - Tuesday July 29th | Glaze Week: Friday - Thursday, July 25-31, 2025

Member registration: Tuesday, May 6th @ 12PM via User Portal
Public registration: Tuesday, May 13th @ 12PM via User Portal

*A NOTE ON ATTENDANCE FOR ADULT SESSION CLASSES: In order to register for a CCC adult session class, students MUST be able to commit to attendance. No more than ONE foreseen absence will be allowed as a prerequisite for registration. WHY? Our teachers work hard to structure lessons. When students miss classes, it disrupts instructor objectives, others' learning, and the pace of the session. If you foresee more than one absence (with the exception of unforeseen circumstances, e.g., sickness), PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER!

HOW DO I REGISTER?

All class registrations are now completed using the CCC Portal.
Please login or create an account to view and sign up for adult and kids classes.

Our new system will allow the public, CCC members, and participants to have their own portal account to access registrations, memberships, events, and more! *We highly recommend viewing the Portal on a laptop or tablet vs. a phone.

SUMMER 2025 INDEPENDENT STUDY

The Independent Study program is intended for intermediate/advanced ceramic artists with considerable clay experience who do not need instruction. Each individual will receive a half-shelf and a first come, first serve sign-up calendar for studio time shared with the adult session students. Independent Study is for self-paced artists who wish to practice and produce work with little to no guidance in the studio. Independent Study has a specific start and end date for a fixed rate regardless of when you can start or if you need to end early. Should you wish to take up a full shelf rather than a half shelf, you may purchase a quantity of two half shelves at checkout.

Dates: Monday, June 9th - Thursday July 24th | Glaze Week: Friday - Thursday, July 25-31, 2025

Requirements: Must have taken at least 1 intermediate/advanced level class at CCC or at least 2 beginning classes at CCC

Price: $300/half shelf | Firing fees included | Clay not included

*If you have not taken an intermediate/advanced level class at CCC and are confident working independently or have outside experience, please contact programs@carbondaleclay.org. Please note that if you register for independent study and we find that you are unqualified upon review, your registration will be cancelled and a refund will be issued less a 10% cancellation fee.
