“Sticks & Stoneware”, a fusion between local ceramic artists and woodworkers, will be available for viewing in the Clay Center’s gallery throughout the month of May.
The Carbondale Clay Center has long collaborated with different forms of art within the Carbondale community. Last year the gallery hosted collective shows involving artists from Spiro Lyons Glass, Colorado Mountain College, and other independent local artists. Angela Bruno, executive director of the Carbondale Clay Center speaks to the value of collaboration within the community, stating “The Carbondale Clay Center has always been focused on working with other members of the arts community. We are lucky to live in an area where the arts are so valued and to be surrounded by some many talented artists that we can build collaborations with. After our successes last year with our collective shows, we knew we had to do some more. We are looking forward to partnering with these phenomenal woodworkers.”
The artists taking place in the show are John Cohorst, Liz Heller, Giselle Hicks, Matt Johnson, Dave Kodama, Brad Reed Nelson, Mark Tan, and Lea Tyler. The artists worked with each other to create collective works of ceramic and wood.
The opening takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 4th, at the Carbondale Clay Center, 135 Main St. The show will be available for viewing from May 4th – May 25th in the Carbondale Clay Center Gallery. For more information, visit www.carbondaleclay.org or call 970-963-2529.
