Opening February 16, 2018 from 6-8 PM.
The exhibition will be shown in the gallery from February 2, 2018 to February 23, 2018.
The Nomadic Hands show is an exhibition of work from the Artstream Nomadic Gallery. The Artstream Nomadic Gallery, founded by Alleghany Meadows, is a traveling exhibition space housed in a restored 1967 Airstream trailer. Touring since 2002, over the past 15 years it has exhibited in more than 150 locations, from Los Angeles to New York, Houston to Minneapolis. It is based in Carbondale, CO. Artstream has exhibited work by more than 150 national, international, and emerging ceramic artists.
Kaityn Getz, curator of the show and assistant to Alleghany Meadows, writes in her curator's stament that "[...] Alleghany Meadows, has been “behind the wheel” for fifteen years, bringing emerging artists onto the team with him. This exposure is invaluable for the artists and a unique way to be engaged in the ceramics community. This group of artists represents a wide range of craftspeople with incredible work. Its been a pleasure working for the Artstream team and I feel honored to be included in this lineage of makers."
The show will be featuring 14 artists who have, over the past 15 years, all helped to elevate the Artstream to where it is today. These artists are Steven Colby, Tyler Bopp, John Cohorst, Ryan Burch, Justin Donofrio, Jessi Maddocks, Sam Harvey, Lyla Meher Arenfeld, Avi Arenfeld, Kaitlyn Getz, Molly Berger, Brooke Cashion, Angus Graham and Alleghany Meadows. The show is dedicated to the memory of Angus Graham, one of the first Artstream team members, who passed away in 2017.
The opening will take place Friday, February 16, 2018 from 6-8 PM. Rhumba Girl will be donating wine, and there will be appetizers provided. Jay Phillips and Eden Marsh are sponsoring the "Nomadic Hands" gallery opening.
Artstream works to educate and place contemporary studio pottery into the hands and homes of the public. Let's come together to celebrate the work these artists have done.
