CCC's Artist Residency Program is comprised of two programs: our Studio Technician Residency and Nine Month Residency.

For more than ten years, the Studio Technician Residency [one position, 1-2 year commitment] program has drawn professional level [BFA, MFA], emerging clay artists from across the nation to manage the studio and teach at the Clay Center. The Studio Tech Resident has a genuine commitment to working with clay, a willingness to work with the local community, and a desire to grow in the development of their own work. They bring a high level of professionalism and competency to the studio that enriches the quality of our programs and facility. The Carbondale Clay Center offers the support of its staff and facility to help Resident Artists reach the next stage of development in their careers.
During their stays, they bring new techniques and energy to the Clay Center, as well as broaden our exposure to different types of art, helping us fulfill our mission, bringing passion to life through the ceramic arts.

All 2008-2009 Nine Month Residency positions have been filled.
The primary goal of CCC's Nine Month Residency program is to provide emerging ceramic artists time and space to develop a body of work that will take them to the next level in their careers The focus is creative development, defining one’s artistic voice and individual statement.
This program will accommodate three residents annually for a nine-month period of time (September 1 – June 1). Residents will be charged a monthly studio rental fee for a private space, and be responsible for purchasing clay and their firings.
Creative, imaginative individuals with a strong commitment to studio work and interest in outreach to the Carbondale community through mutually beneficial projects and programs (such as pottery sales, one-day educational events, workshops etc.) are encouraged to apply. Residents will be selected based on their application materials and references.

Send resume, 10-20 slides or a disc of personal work, a list of 3 references including names addresses, phone numbers, email, and any letters of recommendation. Also include a SASE for the return of materials. A questionnaire will be sent out to the finalists, and the director will conduct a phone interview to discuss any concerns and questions.
