Kelly McKibben October 17th & 18th 2009  / Screenprinting on Clay / Hands-on & Demo Workshop
Kelly McKibben will lead a two-day workshop covering techniques for image transfer on clay using a screenprinting process.  Participants will learn how to use light sensitive emulsion, shoot an image onto a screen, and various ways screenprinting can be utilized with clay.  Kelly McKibben is CCC’s Resident Artist & Studio Technician.  She holds an MFA from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale IL.  www.kellymckibben.com Tuition: $100.  Workshop Hours:  9a-4p daily.  Registration deadline: October 5th 2009.

Joe Brecha  April 23rd & 24th 2010 / Foil Saggar & Naked Raku / Hands-on & Demo Workshop  Joe Brecha of Clay Art Center (Tacoma WA) returns to CCC by popular demand.  This is a fun, hands-on workshop exploring alternative raku firing processes, terra sigillata applications, burnishing, as well as several other surface design techniques.  Participants should anticipate a weekend of surprising, beautiful results and will take home a wealth of practical knowledge for future creations.  Tuition: $200.  Workshop Hours:  10a-4p daily.  Friday 4/22 will be an informal workday for Joe.  All participants are welcome.  For more information, call (970)963-2529.  Registration deadline:  March 30th 2010.

Lisa Pedolsky  October 2nd 2010 / Slab Construction: A Commitment to Process / Demo Workshop  Through her engaging and conversant style, Lisa will present a multi-layered approach to handbuilt ceramics with a focus on form and surface during this one-day demo discussion.  Employing techniques similar to package design and dressmaking, a number of pieces will be brought to life from initial drawings, to pattern design using paper and roofing felt, to assembling components. Surface treatment demonstrations will include the use of slip, sgraffito, appliqué and unconventional tools to achieve visual and tactile depth.  Lisa’s approach to ceramics is thoughtful and unhurried, emphasizing attention to detail and the creation forms that are cohesive in all their elements. Sharing her wealth of knowledge, participants can expect a day packed full of technical information as well as discussion of aesthetic considerations.  Notebooks are strongly recommended. Cameras for documenting processes are welcome..  Tuition: $85.   Workshop Hours:  TBA.   Registration deadline:  September 24th 2010.

Payment in full is due by registration deadline. Refunds less 10% processing fee are available with 10 days cancellation notice. Tuition for workshops cancelled by the Clay Center will be refunded in full. Please call CCC office for lodging info.
