What We Offer

CCC's year-round programming includes weekly classes for adults & children, weekend workshops, artist residency program, and community outreach

Financial aid, scholarships, and work exchange are available to help students cover the costs of classes or workshops.  Please see our financial aid information below to learn more. 

 

Adult Classes

Amy TessierAll Carbondale Clay Center adult students have full access to the studio between classes. Wheel throwers can come in during hand-building classes and vice versa.

Adult classes meet once a week, with 24/7 studio access when other classes are not meeting.

All levels are taught for the adult classes, from absolute beginners to advanced students.  Registration deadline:  Friday prior to each six-week session.  $195/session.  Firing fees included.  Clay charged separately.

Kids Classes

Classes meet once a week.   KidSculpt students explore the essential elements of handbuilding with terra cotta clay. Once dry, artwork is decorated using colorful underglazes & fired to completion.  KidsWheel introduces students to the basics of throwing pottery on the wheel.  Design and decorate cups, bowls, plates, bright additions for your table top and cupboard!  A small reminder:  Students should be prepared to share wheels as enrollment varies.

Create Your Own Class!

Jay Making TeapotDo you have a wonderful idea of what you want to make or what your children want to do? Do you know some people who would like to join you? Create your own class! Call the Clay Center to make arrangements with Lauren at (970) 963-2529. For a 45-minute Mudpuppies session (aka Mommy/Daddy & Me) we need 4 pairs, minimum. All other classes require a minimum of 6 students. Call us to discuss some options!

Class Pricing and Fees

Adult Classes - $185 per six-week session. Firing fees included. Clay charged seperately.

Kids Classes - $140 per six-week session.  All-inclusive.

Financial Aid, Scholarships and Work Exchange

Kids PotluckThe Carbondale Clay Center offers a number of financial aid/scholarships as well as work exchange at the rate of $10 per hour outside of class time. Parents may exchange work for all or part of their child’s class tuition.

The Clay Center wants all children who would benefit from art programs to participate in Clay Center programs, and therefore welcomes contributions from the community to support scholarships and financial aid.
