Beginning Clay
Learn from your instructor and your peers as you explore the possibilities of clay in this All-Levels-Welcome class.  Covering a range of techniques, this class will help get you started, or further your existing knowledge, of wheel throwing techniques, hand building techniques, and glazing techniques.  Whether you’re interested in making sculptural, functional, or a combination of the two, this is the class for you.

July 11th- August 1st, 2019

Molds on the Wheel
Must have taken one clay class prior to enrollment
Join two of our talented instructors as they give insight to their making processes, all while you learn a multitude of creative possibilities.  This intermediate level class will explore the use of molds and the pottery wheel, both when used apart and when used in conjunction. Use existing molds to expand your previous knowledge of forms ranging from bowls to vases (and everything in between!).  Finish your work with surface decorations created with molds, slip decorations and various glazing techniques.

August 8th- August 29th, 2019

Thursday 6-8:30 pm

Beverage Mania!                                                          
What can you accomplish in four weeks?? Drinking vessels...that’s what!  Wine, sake, tea, coffee, whiskey, and summer cocktail tumblers will all be explored as We’ll hit the ground running.  Frank will demonstrate these vessels while showing strategies for cup-making techniques, and ways in which students can incorporate their own signature styles.  By the end of the class you’ll finish with a fluent cross section of cups that will change the quality of your life!  Can’t do better than that in one month!!

ENROLLMENT POLICY

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. A student will only be registered for a class upon receipt of tuition payment in full. Until payment is made, the student will be added to our wait-list. We cannot guarantee placement into a class until payment is received. Materials and firing fees are included in the tuition.

CANCELLATION POLICY

To cancel a registration and receive a refund, you must notify the CCC at least 7 days before the start date of your class. We will refund your payment minus a $35 cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than 7 days before the start date of the class. In the event that the Clay Center is forced to cancel a class, a full refund will be issued.

WORK TRADE OPPORTUNITIES

The Carbondale Clay Center exists to promote excellence in the ceramic arts and to build community through clay related activities. If you would like to be a part of this community but do not have the means, work trade opportunities are available. Work Trade consists of 15 hours of studio help in exchange for half of tuition. If you need financial assistance and would like to be considered for work trade, please complete the application form below.
